Ever since i was a little boy, my parents would take me to Sushi Tei whenever i was craving for sushi and i never thought that i would find an outlet here when i first moved to Sydney from Singapore. An hour after realising that there's Sushi Tei in Sydney, I found myself sitting in the restaurant. Without a doubt, this is the best sushi i had in Sydney so far. I have always been picky when it comes to Japanese food as many Japanese restaurants that i have patronised as a customer in Sydney does not serve authentic Japanese cuisine.
First off, i ordered this mind blowing coffee which tasted a lot like christmas. Every sip i took blew my mind and there's no proper description of how it tasted. When i first received the coffee, i was shocked when i notice that the ice cube was brown in colour. I was curious and eager to try the ice cube..... So i did. To my surprise, the ice cube was made of coffee!!! The coffee was unusual, it was surprising, but it's safe to say it's one of the best coffees i've ever had. With a scoop of vanilla ice cream to top it off, I was already having the best time of my life with just this coffee served at my table. Though i was hoping that they would serve it in a bigger glass.
As i was already impressed with the coffee, I couldn't wait to taste the rest of the food i ordered. The Kani-mayo Tobiko Maki has always been my favourite sushi and the one at Sushi Tei definitely did not let me down. The crispy seaweed, fragrant Tobiko (Flying Fish Roe) alongside with the perfect textured Kani-mayo just left me wanting more. The sushi was made fresh and it definitely did satisfy my sushi craving.
Not long after enjoying my sushi, the main course arrived. I ordered the Chicken Katsu Don and to my surprise, it was perfectly sized. The chicken cutlet topped with egg on rice was incredible and the amount of sauce that was added to the rice was sufficient and to my liking.
I was like a kid in Disneyland, contented and satisfied after having a meal at Sushi Tei. I would absolutely recommend Sushi Tei for any occasion, with friends, family or even your partner.
No matter what, good food can always put a smile on anyone's face.
